Goldstar is the largest seller of excess tickets to live entertainment. We help our 6 million members discover and get out more to live entertainment like theater, concerts, nightlife, comedy, sports and more. We work directly with more than 4,000 venue partners across 26 metros to connect them with our growing Goldstar audience. Not every show sells out, so instead of letting seats go empty, venues list them with us. Our members discover great events at a discount, and our venue partners grow their revenue. Its a win-win-win. The company is headquartered in Pasadena, CA, with offices in San Francisco, CA and Portland, OR.
Jim McCarthy is Chief Executive Officer of Goldstar, a website that focuses on helping its users get out to live entertainment more often. Before launching Goldstar in February 2002, Jim was Vice President of Marketing for venture-backed Kiko, Inc., and previous to that developed highly successful sales products for GeoCities until its acquisition by Yahoo! in 1999. Jim has penned articles on e-commerce and niche marketing for such publications as E-Commerce Times, has been a featured lecturer at such conferences as InTix and Ticket Summit, and was invited to participate in the TED conference in 2008 and 2009. Jim received his B.A. from Harvard University and has an MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA.
