About the Person

Jim Lawler is Chief Human Resources Officer at ICF International. He oversees comprehensive human resources (HR) initiatives including human capital strategy, employee development and training, recruiting, diversity, compensation, benefits, HRIS and performance management and metrics.    Prior to joining ICF, Lawler was as senior HR executive at TASC. And prior to that, he was the founder and principal of his own HR consulting firm, Org Solutions International LLC, specializing in leadership development, talent management strategies, talent acquisition, organizational design and change, and executive coaching. His background includes extensive C-level experience with top-tier international companies. Lawler served as chief HR officer for Royal Ahold, a Netherlands-based retailer with operations in the United States and Europe with sales of $40 billion and 200,000 employees.   Prior to that, he was chief HR officer for Ahold USA, the company’s U.S. subsidiary with sales of $20+ billion and 80,000 employees. He also served as executive vice president of HR for Giant Foods, a $5billion, 25,000 employee subsidiary of Ahold USA. Before Ahold, Lawler served as senior vice president of HR for the CFP Sector of Rexam PLC, a British-based engineering and manufacturing conglomerate with operations in Europe, Asia and the United States.   Lawler developed a unique portfolio of HR skills, business perspective and international experience through 13 years at PepsiCo, a company widely acclaimed as an “academy company” for HR executives. With PepsiCo, he held roles including vice president of HR for Pepsi Cola Europe/Sub Sahara Africa; vice president of HR for Pepsi Cola Western Europe; and vice president of HR for Frito Lay. He began his career with Nordson Corporation, an engineering and manufacturing company that produces industrial robotics and packaging machinery systems.   Lawler earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics with honors from the University of Georgia, where he was a National Merit Scholar, with graduate-level marketing and finance coursework at several universities. He completed Georgetown University’s acclaimed Leadership Coaching certification program. Lawler is a member of the Human Resources Planning Society, the Society for Human Resources and the Potomac Officers Club.
