About the Person

James Flanagan, also known as Jim, has been Chief Human Resources Officer and Senior Vice President of Pep Boys - Manny, Moe & Jack since August 26, 2013. Mr. Flanagan served as Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Procurian USA, Inc. Mr. Flanagan served as an Executive Vice President of Human Resources at GSI Commerce Inc.   He served as Senior Vice President, Human Resources of GSI Commerce Inc. since April 2004. He has over 20 years of global leadership experience in talent management and human resources from previous work in high growth organizations in e-commerce outsourcing, retail, high-tech, and hospitality industries.   He led highly regarded HR teams in multiple organizations and helped companies to effectively drive company expansion through organic growth and acquisition while building a high-performing and sustainable organization.   Prior to joining GSI Commerce, Mr. Flanagan served in Human Resources leadership positions for Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Bank of America, HomeGrocer.com and Starbucks Coffee Company. At Starwood, he Headed Human Resources for the Stars and Brands division, which included Technology, Marketing, Distribution, Revenue Management, and Web and call centers.   Mr. Flanagan also has strong experience and passion for working in high- growth, entrepreneurial companies from his work at HomeGrocer.com and Starbucks. While at Starbucks, Mr. Flanagan led the HR effort for North America helping Starbucks to grow from 400 stores to more than 2,200. He began his career as a labor and employment law attorney.   Mr. Flanagan earned a Bachelor's Degree in BGS and Economics from the University of Michigan and his juris doctorate from Villanova University.
