Jeana G. Sheehan serves as Interim Chief Human Resources Officer for Duke Energy. Named to this role in August 2014, she leads all human resources functions, including human resources policy and strategy, talent management and diversity, employee and labor relations, total rewards strategies and programs, and delivery of business partner services. Previously, Sheehan served as vice president of executive development, as well as vice president of talent management for Duke Energy. She was responsible for implementing a structured assessment and development program for executives, succession planning and executive coaching. In addition, she led integrated end-to-end solutions to assist the company in hiring, developing and retaining high-performing and diverse talent. She also led HR business partners, employee and labor relations and total rewards. Sheehan joined the company in 2000 as a human resources business partner for corporate departments and commercial generation, and has since led talent acquisition, corporate HR and nuclear HR. She has also served in lead roles managing transitions for the Duke Energy/Cinergy merger, the Spectra spin-off and the Duke Energy/Progress Energy merger. Prior to joining Duke Energy, Sheehan worked for Delta Technology, a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Airlines, where she served in talent management and business partner leadership roles. A native of Charlotte, N.C., Sheehan graduated from Elon University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications. Sheehan is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management and is certified as a human resources generalist and is an executive coach. She serves on The Conference Board’s Council of Talent Management Executives. She is a volunteer for Room in the Inn and Urban Ministries and served on the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity for three years. Sheehan and her husband, Ed, have a daughter and a son.
