In addition to Barton Elementary, Gorena led Irving ISD’s Stipes and Brown elementary schools where students and teachers experienced great success under her leadership. She also served as an assistant principal at Irving ISD’s Davis and Keyes elementary schools and as an assistant principal and fourth-grade teacher for Pauls Valley Public Schools in Oklahoma.
