About the Person

Irma Townsend is the Director of Human Resources at Colquitt County Schools.   Prior to that, she served as director of human resources at Enterprise City School System. She retired after working in the Enterprise City School System for about 20 years.   She started her career teaching English at Lagrange High School in Lagrange, Ga.   Throughout her career as an educator, Townsend has held the position of teacher at Enterprise High School; counselor at Kinston School; principal at Harrand Creek and New Brockton Elementary School; ECS Student Services supervisor and HR director.   She has worked in education for 33 years in Dale County, Ozark City, Coffee County and Enterprise City School Systems.   During her time with ECS, Townsend has helped the school system acquire over $4.4 million in grant money. These grants include Department of Defense Education Activity grants and emergency-readiness grants, of which she was the grant writer and project director.
