Shaw University, founded in 1865, is the first historically black college in the South. Shaw is a private, coeducational, liberal arts university affiliated with the Baptist Church. The University awards degrees at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Harvard Law School is a place for people who love ideas because ideas make a difference in the world; who want to think about the law`s interaction with public policy, business, information and biomedical technologies, and human needs and perceptions; who are fascinated by the power of institutions and rules while mindful of the unintended consequences of policy reforms; and who pursue the legal profession`s service to society. Our 113 full-time professors bring to the School a depth and range of experience unmatched by any other law faculty, and offer more than 300 upper-level classroom and clinical courses—over 100 having 25 or fewer students. Topics range from international legal studies, child advocacy, venture capital and social and economic rights, to the law of Ancient Greece and the law of cyberspace. Pathbreaking scholarship by faculty members influences the regulation of corporate governance and consumer protection, the design of domestic and international finance systems, the drafting of emerging constitutions, and scholarly debates in law and also in economics, history, psychology, literary theory, philosophy, and more. Members of our faculty regularly argue cases before the Supreme Court, testify before Congress, shape governance of the Internet, devise proposals for better regulation of corporate and consumer risks, and advise developing nations on how to create effective legal systems.

Established in 1869, Weatherford College can still lay claim to be the oldest continuing educational institution west of the Mississippi River. Its District consists of five counties – Parker, Palo Pinto, Hood, Jack and Wise. Weatherford College develops and maintains educational programs, student support services and activities appropriate to the needs of the communities served. The College provides programs that parallel the first two years of baccalaureate education, prepare students for vocational and professional degrees and provide valuable lifelong learning opportunities. Through its academic transfer and technical and career programs, Weatherford College has developed a national reputation for its academic standard and outstanding career programs. The instructors at Weatherford College include 129 full-time and about 143 adjunct faculty; 65 percent of the FTE is taught by full-time masters and doctorate holders. As the campus has continued to grow, so too has the student enrollment. The 2013 fall enrollment reached an all-time high at just over 5,700, made up of students from all over Texas, 32 other states and 23 foreign countries. The College strives to provide students with the right kind of environment to build strong foundations for future success. Our students transfer to universities and colleges throughout the United States and join the work force having received state-of-the art technical training. Through our partnerships with institutions such as the University of Texas at Arlington and Tarleton State University, to name a few, students may also pursue bachelor, master and doctorate degrees. The College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and many other program-specific accrediting authorities. As a publicly-supported, comprehensive community college and a member of the system of higher education, Weatherford College primarily serves the needs of its five-county service area through teaching, research, public service and learning.
