About the Person
Gregory M. Freiwald is Chief Human Resources Officer of The Dow Chemical Company. He also has responsibilities for Aviation and Corporate Affairs. He is a member of The Executive Leadership team and Secretary to the Compensation and Leadership Committee of the Board. Freiwald is also a Director of the Dow Foundation. He joined Dow in 1979 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as a Salary Administrator. He had several HR assignments in Argentina and in Coral Gables, Florida, and later transferred to Midland as HR Manager for the Chemicals & Performance Business of the U.S. Region. Freiwald served as HR Director for Executive, Finance, Law and Corporate from 1993 to 1994. In this role, he was responsible for all HR matters related to planning, coordination and execution. In 1994, he was named Latin America HR and Quality Performance Director, leading the HR activities in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Two years later, Freiwald assumed the role of Latin America HR leader and PBB/Polisur HR integration leader, located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 1997, Freiwald was named the global HR Resource Center Director, leading the HR technologies and overall geographies, based in Midland. He was then named the senior HR Director for the Global HR Resource Center and HR Director for the Geographic Council located in Milan, Italy. During this assignment, he led the operations of the HR function and provided strategic HR direction and counseling to the geographic team in coordination with the Geographic Counsel President. Freiwald then returned to Midland in March 2004 and was named Human Resources Vice President of Operations, responsible for leading the HR Strategic Consultants and the HR technologies. In 2006, he was appointed Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Executive Compensation. Two years later, Freiwald was selected to lead the global HR organization and named Executive Vice President of the Company. Freiwald, a native of Argentina, holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Universidad Del Centro de La Provincia de Buenos Aires.
