About the Person

Dr. Gregory K. Adkins, also known as Greg, has served the School District of Lee County for 28 years. He started his career teaching science at Pine Island Middle and Gulf Middle Schools. He worked as the Assistant Principal at Gulf Middle School and Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle School before becoming the Principal for Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle School.   Dr. Adkins has served as an administrator at the District level as the Director of Labor Relations and Contract Management and Director and Executive Director for Human Resources. His longest service in Human Resources was as the Chief Human Resources Officer. While serving in these roles, Dr. Adkins has also filled the role as the Chief Negotiator for the District, working alongside the District`s labor and teachers` unions to negotiate salaries and career ladders for District employees. In this role, Dr. Adkins has successfully negotiated and ratified a historic number of contract years successfully. Dr. Adkins is passionate about hiring and retaining teacher talent for the School District of Lee County and was instrumental in authoring and implementing salary incentives for teachers in hard to serve schools and subjects, the teacher career ladder and the Teacher Leader program.   Dr. Adkins has most recently served in the role as the Assistant Superintendent of Operations. In this role, he has supervised the beginning plans for the new Bonita Springs High School, the progression and continued development of the District`s school assignment program and the deployment of the largest instructional technology initiative in the District`s history. Committed to improving internal processes within the District for maintaining employee information, processing new hires and paying employees, Dr. Adkins also served as the Executive Sponsor for the PeopleSoft project, considered by Oracle as the largest successful public sector implementation of an Enterprise Resource project in North America.   Dr. Adkins completed his Doctorate Degree at the University of Central Florida, Orlando. His Master`s Degree was completed at the University of South Florida and his Undergraduate work was completed at Akron, University, Ohio.   Aside from his passion for education, Dr. Adkins is also passionate about sustainable living and spends his free time maintaining his small farm and participating in his East Ft. Myers Rotary Club.
