Gary is a senior financial executive with extensive experience directing accounting, financial and treasury functions spanning sales, manufacturing, and marketing in diverse industries. Leveraging an energized, goal-oriented management style using financial expertise, knowledge of best practices, strong IT knowledge and organizational vision, Gary is a hands-on leader and strategic partner. He is able to play an integral role in developing and implementing financial strategies supporting organizational mission and goals. Gary started his career with Price Waterhouse Coopers, a “Big 4” public accounting firm. He also was Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of ZyGEM. Previously, Gary was Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Bostwick Laboratories, a pre-IPO cancer testing laboratory based here in Richmond. In his role, he was responsible for setting and driving business strategy, as well as directing all aspects of the company’s financial infrastructure, including analysis, planning, reporting, risk management, revenue growth and compliance to company policies, and procedures. During his tenure he prepared the company for an IPO, partnered with sales to increase revenue from $85M to $150M and increased profit margins from 8% to 15%. Prior to joining Bostwick Laboratories, Gary served as a senior financial executive with Nabisco, Pfizer, and Medco Health Solutions, the nation’s largest pharmaceutical benefit manager. While at Medco, Gary was responsible for managing revenue, operating, and capital budgets. Additionally, Gary served as Business Development Manager for Medco’s Electronic Prescribing initiative and worked with the federal government’s Human and Health Services Task Force for Health Information Technology to develop national standards for electronic prescribing.
