The innovation and passion of our people drive our success. Our purpose, Energizing the World, Bettering People`s Lives®, means we venture where others have not and create opportunities for the communities where we live and work. We operate safely, responsibly, and efficiently – from initial evaluation through discovery and production. Our founder`s philosophy still shapes our culture: surround yourself with good people and you cannot help but be successful. We`re proud to have built a company with a character to match our record of success. How? By building a team of professionals with varied backgrounds but a shared sense of purpose. We deliver energy resources from core operating areas that include positions in three premier unconventional U.S. onshore plays — the Denver-Julesberg (DJ) Basin, Eagle Ford Shale and Permian Basin — and conventional offshore operations in Eastern Mediterranean and West Africa. Arch Resources is a leading U.S. producer of metallurgical products for the global steel industry, and the leading supplier of premium High-Vol A metallurgical coal globally. Arch and its subsidiaries operate four large, modern metallurgical mines that consistently set the industry standard for both mine safety and environmental stewardship. The flagship Leer mine consistently ranks among the lowest cost U.S. metallurgical mines and produces a product quality that is recognized and sought-after worldwide. An Arch subsidiary is in the process of developing a second world-class longwall mine known as Leer South on the same reserve base. Leer South is expected to commence longwall production in the third quarter of 2021. The startup of Leer South is expected to increase Arch`s annual High-Vol A output to around 8 million tons per year; enhance its already advantageous position on the U.S. cost curve; strengthen its coking coal profit margins across a wide range of market conditions; and solidify its position as the leading supplier of High-Vol A coal globally. The Leer and Leer South operations are complemented by the Beckley and Mountain Laurel mines, which in aggregate provide Arch with a full suite of high-quality metallurgical products for sale into the global metallurgical market. Arch and its subsidiaries also operate highly efficient, low-cost thermal mines in the United States — in the Powder River Basin, Colorado and Illinois. These mines produce highly cost-competitive thermal coal for sale into the domestic and international power generation markets.
