About the Person

Frans Hijkoop is executive vice president and chief human resources officer for MetLife, Inc., a leading global insurance and employee benefits company with 65,000 associates. He is responsible for managing MetLife's global human resources strategy. His key focus areas include the global transformation of the company, talent management and succession planning, executive compensation and organizational effectiveness. Before joining MetLife in 2011, Hijkoop held a number of human resources leadership roles at PepsiCo, including as chief human resources officer for all of PepsiCo's global markets outside of the U.S. From 2004 to 2007, he served as chief human resources officer and as an executive committee member at Lloyds TSB in London. Hijkoop also worked at PepsiCo earlier in his career and held a variety of human resources leadership positions in Europe and the U.S., including as senior vice president of human resources responsible for the integration of PepsiCo's acquisition of Quaker Oats in 2001. He also worked for Mobil and Unilever in the early stages of his international career. Hijkoop serves as a member of the board of directors of the MetLife Foundation. He is also active in several professional HR organizations and is a member of the Global Human Resources Council of the Conference Board and the HR Policy Association. Hijkoop also serves on the board of Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street. Hijkoop earned an M.A. degree cum laude, from Utrecht University in the Netherlands.
