Fort Hays State University is a thriving liberal and applied arts, a state-assisted institution in western Kansas with an enrollment of approximately 14,210 students. Fort Hays State occupies the southwest corner of Hays, Kan., a city of about 20,000 people located halfway between Kansas City and Denver on Interstate 70. The city and its people make their livings from across a wide spectrum of industries-agriculture, education, light manufacturing, medical care, oil, retail, and technology. The university is fully accredited by several national agencies. We invite that type of inspection to prove that we are providing our students with the kind of education that we promise them. FHSU is one of six state-assisted institutions of higher education and is governed by a Board of Regents appointed by the governor of the state of Kansas.
