FLA is a collaborative effort of universities, civil society organizations and socially responsible companies dedicated to protecting workers` rights around the world. We are an international organization with a dedicated staff and board, headquartered in Washington, DC, with offices in China, Switzerland and Turkey. FLA places the onus on companies to voluntarily meet internationally recognized labor standards wherever their products are made. We offer: • A collaborative approach allowing civil society organizations, universities and socially responsible companies to sit at the same table and find effective solutions to labor issues; • Innovative and sustainable strategies and resources to help companies improve compliance systems; • Transparent and independent assessments, the results of which are published online; and • A mechanism to address the most serious labor rights violations through the Third Party Complaint process.
Dedicated to enhancing the economic competitiveness of the state and improving the quality of life for Texans, the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) is the largest university-affiliated transportation research agency in the United States. Created in 1950 in response to the needs of the Texas Highway Department, TTI has since broadened its focus to address all modes of transportation—highway, air, water, rail and pipeline. TTI is a state agency and a member of The Texas A&M University System. TTI pioneered the "breakaway" and the "crash cushion" concepts. The cooperative relationship with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), formalized by the Texas legislature in 1949, has been key to the success and real-world applicability of the TTI program. Knowledge and expertise gained through that program have helped TTI effectively develop and implement work for numerous other sponsors. TTI has a breadth and depth of programs, facilities, and capabilities unsurpassed by any university-affiliated transportation research program in the United States. Since 1949, Elgin Community College (ECC) has been dedicated to improving lives through learning. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, ECC offers comprehensive degree and certificate programs, affordable tuition, small classes, and knowledgeable and caring faculty and staff. In addition to its six associate degree programs, the college also offers more than 140 career-oriented occupational degrees and certificates, corporate and continuing education programs, and a full complement of pre-collegiate courses and initiatives. The college is also a great place to start a bachelor’s degree, earn summer credit, or begin dual admission with a four-year college or university. Along with its Spartan Drive Campus in Elgin, ECC offers courses and services at the following locations: the Education and Work Center in Hanover Park, Streamwood Village Hall, and several public schools and libraries. In 2016, the college will open its Public Safety Training Center in Burlington. The college’s 360-square-mile district is home to 446,224 residents, 10,000+ businesses, four school districts, and 33 communities. The U.S. Department of Education has designated ECC as a Hispanic-serving institution. The college has also been distinguished as a Military Friendly® institution since 2012. Nearly 11,000 credit students enrolled during the fall 2014 semester, and ECC has increased completions by 43 percent between 2000 and 2012, according to data provided by NIU’s Center for Governmental Studies. ECC’s Main Campus is conveniently located just four miles south of the Jane Addams Tollway (Interstate 90) in southwest Elgin, about 35 miles northwest of Chicago, and only 30 minutes west of O’Hare International Airport.
