About the Company
United Technologies Corporation (UTC) provides a broad range of high-technology products and services for the aerospace and commercial building industries. Our aerospace businesses include Sikorsky helicopters, Pratt and Whitney aircraft engines, and UTC Aerospace Systems. In 2013, we combined our commercial businesses to form UTC Building and Industrial Systems, the world`s largest provider of building technologies. It includes Otis elevators and escalators; Carrier heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration systems; and fire and security solutions from brands such as Kidde and Chubb.
About the Person
Elizabeth B. Amato was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of United Technologies Corp. in November 2015. Prior to that she was Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Organization, with global responsibility for UTC’s Human Resources and Communications functions. Amato joined UTC in 1985 at Pratt & Whitney and has held a variety of leadership positions across the corporation in both aerospace and commercial building systems. Most recently, Amato served as Vice President, Human Resources, for UTC Climate, Controls & Security. Amato has also held the most senior human resources executive leadership position at a number of UTC’s business units including Carrier (2010–2011), Pratt & Whitney (2006–2009) and Sikorsky (1997–2006). Amato is a recipient of the YWCA Women Achievers Award and is currently a member of the National Academy of Human Resources CHRO Board Academy as well as the Wake Forest College Board of Visitors. Amato holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Davidson College and a law degree from the University of Connecticut.
