About the Person

Edward Adams is the Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Enterprise Holdings.   In his position, Adams is a corporate officer and responsible for leading all aspects of human resources and ensuring that Enterprise Holdings' culture is in line with the company's mission.   Adams began his career in the field of human resources in 1978, and since that time has brought about many positive changes to major corporations, particularly in the areas of employee selection, retention, training, research, organizational development and diversity.   He worked at AT&T, where he was responsible for all management research on hires into sales, marketing, programming and engineering management positions. In 1987, he moved to PepsiCo, where he began in beverages at the Pepsi Cola Company, and was responsible for organizational development of finance, research and development and marketing organizations.    Later he was promoted to the Director level at Frito Lay, the company's snack food division. At Frito Lay he served as the Director of Staffing and Diversity, and Director of Dallas Operations.   During these years, Adams made significant strides within the company, increasing diversity within upper-level management from 2 percent to 20 percent; significantly improving retention, negotiating labor contracts, and opening Frito-Lay's first baked snack plant.   Adams is active in the St. Louis community and has been a member of several boards. Currently he serves on the advisory board for community involvement of the Walker School of Business and Technology at Webster University in St. Louis. He also is actively involved in the St. Louis Workforce Investment Board, Students For Free Enterprise and the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis.   Adams received a bachelor’s in psychology from Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., and a Ph.D. in industrial-organizational psychology with minors in labor relations and quantitative measures from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. He has published several articles on employee attitudes, behaviors and multivariate statistical procedures in research journals. He is married and has two children.
