About the Person
Douglas Anderson Baillie, also known as Doug, has been the Chief Human Resources Officer of Unilever PLC and Chief HR Officer at Unilever NV since February 2011. Mr. Baillie served as the President of Western Europe at Unilever Plc and Unilever NV since May 2008. He served as President of African Regional Group at Unilever Bestfoods Robertsons (Pty) Ltd. since 2004. Mr. Baillie served as Group Vice President of Hindustan Unilever Limited since 2006. Mr. Baillie served as Chief Executive Officer of Hindustan Unilever Ltd. from December 2005 to April 2008 and served as its Managing Director from July 2006 to April 2008. Mr. Baillie served as Business President of Africa, Middle East and Turkey of Unilever PLC and Unilever NV since 2004. He joined Unilever SA in 1978. His career over the years has spanned various sales and marketing positions, culminating in a secondment to Lever Rexona in Australia in 1987. He joined Unilever NV in 1987 and on his return to South Africa in late 1988, he served as Sales Director and Marketing Director. He moved to London in 1994 to Personal Products Co-ordination where he served as the Regional Liaison Member for Africa, Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe and Turkey. He served as Vice President for Home and Personal Care for the Africa Business Group since 1994. Mr. Baillie was the Managing Director of Lever Pond's South Africa since 1997. He served as National Manager of Unilever South Africa since May 2000. Mr. Baillie has been a Director of Hindustan Unilever Ltd. since July 03, 2006. He served on several external Boards including the Advertising Standards Authority, the Consumer Goods Council of South Africa and was a member of Presidential Big Business working group. He served on a number of Industry Bodies including the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), and the Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Mr. Baillie graduated from the University of Natal with majors in business finance, marketing and business administration.
