About the Company

Vital Access designs and manufactures surgical and interventional technologies to improve vascular access for patients and their caregivers. Vascular access challenges have driven the company to develop the VWING Vascular Needle Guide, which is currently approved for use in markets such as the United States, Canada, Europe and New Zealand.

 

About the Person

Doug Smith has served as President and CEO of Vital Access since he joined the company in 2008. Prior to working with Vital Access, Doug successfully founded and directed multiple companies. In 1991, Doug co-founded HealthRider, Inc., serving first as its Director of Media then as its Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. HealthRider, which reached $241 million in sales, was acquired by the world`s largest home fitness manufacturer in a private transaction. In 1997, Doug co-founded UCN, Inc., serving in the office of the President as an executive Vice President, where he was responsible for all aspects of marketing, sales, and customer service, including brand strategy, advertising, promotions, and corporate communications. UCN, now inContact, is now traded publicly on NASDAQ. From 2006 until 2008 when Doug joined Vital Access, he was President of Zerorez Franchising Systems.
