About the Company
The California State Legislature is composed of the State Assembly, the State Senate, and several other departments. The Legislature holds the principle lawmaking powers of the state, and on average, the Legislature will propose, analyze, and debate over 6,000 bills in a single two-year session. The State Senate is the upper house of the Legislature, consisting of 40 members elected from districts apportioned on the basis of population, one-half of whom are elected or re-elected every two years for four-year terms.
About the Person
Dina Hidalgo retired as the Head of Human Resources at California State Senate. Previously, Dina served as the Director of Personnel for the California State Senate and is recognized as one of the State's leading personnel professionals. In addition to writing and implementing the Senate's EEO policies, she managed personnel matters for approximately 1000 employees and the other 39 Senators. Dina is active in a number of community and civic affairs locally, statewide and nationally. She is the first woman to be elected as President of the National Legislative Services and Security Association and serves on the Legislative Staff Coordinating Committee of the National Conference of State Legislators. Recently, she was selected as a fellow to participate in the American Leadership Forum. She is also currently an appointee to the Sacramento County Planning Commission and previously served as a Sacramento Sports Commissioner. Dina was a founder and the first Co-Chair of the Latina Political Action Committee.
