About the Company

West Liberty University is a forward-looking, four-year public university steeped in a rich heritage as West Virginias oldest institution of higher education. Established as West Liberty Academy in 1837 (26 years before the state was admitted to the Union), it was created to respond to the need for higher educational opportunities west of the Appalachian ridge. The institution is named for the town in which it is located. West Liberty was so named in the late 18th Century as the westernmost point of the new liberty provided through the Declaration of Independence.

 

About the Person

Diana Harto is the Chief Human Resources Officer at West Liberty University, effective October 1, 2015.   Most recently, Harto worked at TeleTech, serving as the United States senior manager for human capital delivery. She was recruited for this position in 2007.   She was responsible for ensuring the effective administration of all human resource functions including compensation and benefits, performance management, recruiting, attrition management and employee relations, reporting analysis and trending.   Prior to that, Harto was employed at Strauss Industries in the department of human resources and payroll administration.   She also worked at TeleTech from 1998 – 2006, when she was a senior generalist in the human capital department. Her duties then included legal compliance and resolution of employee related issues, as well as implementation of company policies and procedures.   Before that she was employed as human resource officer at the former One Valley Bank, Moundsville, from 1984 – 1998.   Harto earned a bachelor`s degree in human resource management at Wheeling Jesuit University and a master`s degree in strategic leadership at the former Mountain State University, Beckley. She also served as an adjunct faculty member at WLU, teaching human resource management.   Harto has served on the boards of the Marshall Chamber of Commerce, the Upper Ohio Valley Society for Human Resource Management, Reynolds Memorial Hospital, West Virginia Workforce Investment and the Family Violence Prevention and Services Program, Wheeling.   A resident of the Mount Olivet neighborhood of Wheeling, she is married to Brian Harto.
