About the Person

Deborah J. Moon Shaffer is the Senior Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration at Ohio University.   She is responsible for the departments of Human Resources and Finance. Her first day was July 10, 2013.   Shaffer held senior leadership positions at Carnegie Mellon University for more than 11 years, eight of them as Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer.   Previously, she worked at KPMG Consulting as a senior manager for the firm’s National Higher Education Practice. Moreover, she served as director at the Allegheny Health, Education and Research Foundation, a Pennsylvania hospital and university system comprised of 13 hospitals, the Allegheny University of the Health Sciences, and a research institute.   She currently serves as a board member of the UPMC Health Plan, an integrated health care delivery system owned by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.   Shaffer attended the Women’s Executive Leadership Program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and received her Bachelor of Science in finance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
