About the Person
After graduating from Southern Illinois University with a bachelor`s degree in special education, Debbie Ashley, Chief Human Resources Officer, began her teaching career as a middle school special education teacher in Plano, Texas. She later moved to Wisconsin, where she designed and implemented a special education program for primary students with behavior disorders at a K-12 school located on a Chippewa Reservation. Debbie later re-located to Eugene, Oregon, where she obtained her Master`s degree in special education and completed her administrative licensure program. After finishing her program, she taught elementary special education in Cottage Grove for several years, and then was hired into the position of Special Programs Director, where she was instrumental in designing and implementing inclusionary system services to student with disabilities. She served in that position for six years, and then was hired into a position as an elementary principal. In 2000, Debbie was hired by the Eugene School District as elementary principal of co-located schools, one of which was a Spanish Immersion School and the other, a Title I school. After three years in the principal position, Debbie was hired to serve as a human resources administrator with the district. Debbie moved to Hillsboro, Oregon, in 2006, when she accepted the position of Director of Classified Personnel for the district. Debbie was promoted to her current position as Chief Human Resources Officer in November, 2012.
