About the Person
Darren Ratz joined Shoppers Drug Mart in 2007 where he initially had responsibility for the HR retail department. During his time with SDM, Ratz has continued to take on additional challenges and responsibilities within the HR department. Over the past eight years Ratz has assumed oversight for many additional HR functions including talent acquisition, business partnering, organizational development, learning and development, office services, conferences and events, and employee experience. Ratz is currently leading the HR function for the Shoppers Drug Mart division focused on supporting a smooth transition to being a separate and distinct division in the Loblaw family of companies. Ratz has deep pharmacy and operational experience that he brings to his HR role, having been a licensed pharmacist early in his career and later moved through various roles to eventually lead pharmacy and optical operations teams within Walmart Canada at the enterprise level. Ratz transitioned to the HR function to lead a special project team responsible for planning and implementing all HR processes and policies for the Walmart Supercentre expansion into Canada.
