About the Person

Daniel T. Smith, also known as Dan, has been a Senior Vice President of Organization & Administration at Owens Corning since November 2014. Mr. Smith served as Senior Vice President of Information Technology & Human Resources at Owens Corning since September 2009. He has held leadership positions in human resources for more than 20 years. He joined Owens Corning from Borders Group, Inc., a worldwide retailer of books and media. served as the Chief Administrative Officer and Executive Vice President at Borders Group Inc. from January 5, 2009 to August 23, 2009. He served as an Executive Vice President of Human Resources at Borders Group, Inc., since April 2008 and also served as its Senior Vice President of Human Resources from March 2000 to April 2008 and as Vice President of Human Resources from April 1998 to March 2000. Mr. Smith served as Director of Human Resources at Waldenbooks from April 1996 to April 1998. He also served as Director of Compensation and Benefits of Borders Group Inc. from July 1995 to April 1996. He has been with Borders Group since 1995 in a variety of leadership roles. He spent nearly nine years at The May Department Stores Company, where he was responsible for human resources and operations. He served as the Chairman of both the HR Forum and Merrill Lynch client advisory boards. Mr. Smith received his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich., and his Master of Arts degree in human resource management from Washington University in St. Louis.
