Clare Carmichael is Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer of Alexion Pharmaceuticals. She is responsible for Human Resources on a global basis, with the goal of continuing to build a cohesive organization with integrated, high performance teams. Ms. Carmichael brings 30 years of HR experience with global pharmaceutical and biotech organizations to the organization. Prior to joining Alexion, she was SVP, Global Human Resources at Watson Pharmaceuticals, where she established and executed a strategy to successfully transition the workforce from a siloed U.S.-centric operation to a globally-focused matrix organization. Clare also held several HR positions at Schering-Plough, including Vice President of Global Human Resources at the Schering-Plough Research Institute, where she was selected for the global HR lead role for R&D to help drive cultural change in the organization. While at Schering-Plough, she also spearheaded integration activities when the company acquired Organon Biosciences. Clare also worked as the Vice President of HR at Eyetech Pharmaceuticals, leading the human resources function in the company from its post-IPO phase into the commercial phases of development and in Human Resources at Pharmacia Corporation. Ms. Carmichael received a bachelor’s degree from Rider University and completed the University of Michigan Human Resources Executive Program.
