Saint Thomas, VI-based University of the Virgin Islands has Appointed Charles Ronald Meek as Director of Human Resources and Organizational Development
About the Company
Founded in 1962, UVI is a public, co-ed, land-grant HBCU in the United States Virgin Islands (USVI). Approximately 2,500 students are enrolled on the two campuses: the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix and the St. Thomas campus. The institution offers 38 undergraduate degree programs and seven graduate degree programs across its five colleges and schools.
About the Person
Charles Ronald Meek is the Director of the University of the Virgin Islands Human Resources Department (UVI-HR). Meek previously served as assistant director of Human Resources at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. His appointment at UVI began on May 5. He is responsible for the Human Resources Department, spearheading strategic and tactical implementation of leading-edge organizational development and human resources initiatives. Meek will lead the development and delivery of core HR functions, including selection and retention, performance and succession management, and the development of HR policies, processes and procedures. His experience includes benefits, classification, compensation, contract negotiation, employee relations, faculty workload, labor relations, job evaluations, performance management, recruitment, training and development, workman’s compensation, unemployment compensation and retirement, according to Lake-King. Meek holds a Master of Science degree in Higher Education Administration from Texas A&M University, a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources from the University of Texas, and an Associate of Science degree in Pre-Law from Grayson County College.
