M2MD Technologies has developed a communications gateway for wireless IoT devices that strengthens security, significantly reduces costs and enhances the user experience. The management team is leveraging its cellular communications and automotive telematics expertise to build an industry leading security solution that utilizes standard transport layer security (TLS/SSL) with a design optimized to run on the constrained processors used by many remote IoT data collection devices. The solution authenticates device credentials at each connection with extremely low overhead, saving time and reducing the amount of data transmitted over the network, and encrypts data at both the transport and application layer to provide a secure end-to-end connection. In addition, the patent pending solution enables immediate network initiated data sessions, replacing expensive alternatives used by the industry today such as the continuous pinging of data or the slow and unreliable SMS “shoulder tap”, eliminating unnecessary network traffic for both the operators and enterprises while also extending the battery life for remote devices. The M2MD team brings its partners significant device know-how and reference software for the latest mobile network technologies.
