Brook Whitmore is the Chief Human Resources Officer at Oconee County Schools. Prior to that, he worked as Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources for the Oconee County Schools, a position he held since 2008, following four years as a Human Resources Director for Gwinnett County Public Schools. Brook Whitmire was born and raised in the Atlanta area. He attended the University of Georgia and graduated in 1990 with a degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in business. After a couple of years in the corporate world, he became a high school history teacher. During his years as a teacher he also coached football, baseball and swimming in DeKalb and Gwinnett counties, later becoming a high school assistant principal. Brook led the Henderson High School swim team to an undefeated season and county championship in 1996. In 1998 and 1999, his boys swim team at Duluth High School finished runner-up in the state two consecutive years. In addition to his undergraduate degree, he holds master`s and doctoral degrees in educational leadership, both from the University of Georgia. He has taught a number of leadership courses as an adjunct instructor in the UGA Graduate College of Education. Through the years, God demonstrated that His platform for Brook would take the form of mentoring younger men in an “unofficial” capacity and leading student Bible studies. Brook and his wife, Jennifer, have been married since 1996. They have two children, a daughter, Allie (born in 2001) and a son, James (born in 2003).
