Wood County Hospital was founded in 1951 with support from the Wood County community. Wood County residents believed so much in the hospital back then; they played a key role in its early development. They sold blankets, went door-to-door asking for donations, held bazaars, and even sold a heifer to generate funds to make sure those early years were healthy. Michaud in 1996, Foundation Healthcare has two wholly-owned subsidiaries: Foundation Surgery Affiliates, LLC and Foundation Surgical Hospital Affiliates, LLC.
