About the Person

"Andy Brantley has served as president and chief executive officer of College and University Professional Association for Human Resources since July 2005. With the leadership and guidance of high functioning boards and great national office colleagues, Andy has led the transformation of College and University Professional Association for Human Resources. The association has grown from 1,500 member institutions to almost 2,000, and from 6,600 institutional representatives to more than 19,000. Attendance at the annual conference has doubled, as has College and University Professional Association for Human Resources’s annual revenue. And net assets have increased from just over $500,000 to over $7 million. In 2007, the association built a new office home, and paid off the mortgage in less than three years. In addition to guiding CUPA-HR’s growth, Andy and his colleagues have been catalysts for change in College and University Professional Association for Human Resources’s governance structure and strategic priorities. Under his leadership, the association has facilitated the launch of 19 new chapters and has developed guidelines and affiliation agreements to strengthen the tie between chapters and the national organization. The national board has changed from geographic appointments to competency-based appointments, and board committees have been restructured to align with the association’s strategic priorities. In 2012, College and University Professional Association for Human Resources developed a competency/learning framework to guide all learning and development efforts and launched a new learning management system that offers a growing catalog of online courses and helps members track their development. The association has also made diversity and inclusion a cornerstone of its work, and has strengthened its position as the source of higher education compensation data and as the voice of higher education human resources professionals on Capitol Hill. Andy spends his free time involved in community, music and fitness activities. He has enjoyed choral performance as a member of choirs and auditioned groups including the Athens Master Chorale and Knoxville Choral Society. Andy is committed to a healthy lifestyle and makes exercise a regular part of his day."
