About the Person

Andrea Coughlin Rowley was named Entergy’s senior vice president of human resources and chief HR officer in September 2016. She assumed the additional role of chief diversity officer in January 2018. As a member of the office of the chief executive, Rowley manages the company’s strategic human resources functions, including human resources business partners, labor relations, Total Rewards, organizational health and diversity, and talent management. She supports Entergy’s mission to create value for employees by achieving top-quartile organizational health and by providing a safe, rewarding, engaging, diverse and inclusive work environment, fair compensation and benefits, and opportunities for employees to advance their careers. Prior to joining Entergy, Rowley was president and CEO of Advance/Evolve, a leadership and change management consulting firm. She began her career in human resources at Shell and later served in a variety of HR leadership roles at Frito-Lay, BMC Software and Baker Hughes. At Baker Hughes, she led the redesign of global human resource management from a functional division model to a geographic market-based organization with shared services. Rowley was vice president, human resources, at Schlumberger/Smith International in the Wilson division, where she led not only HR, but also the company’s safety and continuous improvement programs. She later served as vice president, human resources – residential, at Direct Energy, and as vice president of HR at Dover Corporation. At Direct Energy, Rowley led a team that transformed the residential business operating model to drive growth, innovation and employee engagement while also focusing on talent development. Rowley received a bachelor’s degree in business administration, majoring in human resource management, at The Ohio State University. She continued her education and earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center. She is a member of the American Bar Association and State Bar of Texas, and has volunteered for organizations including Junior Achievement and the John Cooper School Parents Forum, and served on the board of Montgomery County Youth Services.
