Island Nursing Home and Care Center, established in 1983. We serve 70 residents—38 in nursing (including a small number in skilled nursing) and 32 in residential care. We are one of only five independent, non-profit nursing homes in Maine. We have consistently earned the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services` (CMS) top rating of five stars. We launched a capital campaign in October, 2015. The purpose of this project is to provide a much-needed renovation of a 32-year-old facility and to bring it up to current standards in order to improve the quality of life for our residents. The renovation will also enhance the working conditions of our direct-care staff.
