Sana Biotechnology is focused on utilizing engineered cells as medicines for patients. Sana launched in early 2019 and has approximately two hundred employees in Seattle, Cambridge, and South San Francisco. In 2019, we raised capital to enable our broad vision, began to acquire technology and establish an IP estate across cell and gene therapy, and made significant progress validating our cell and gene therapy platforms. Delfi is developing a new class of liquid biopsy tests for early detection based on altered genome-wide fragmentation profiles, also known as "fragmentomes," representing aberrant packaging of DNA in cancer cells. By applying advanced machine learning algorithms, these fragment patterns are detectable at a very low sequencing cost. Delfi is using this technology to develop highly sensitive and specific cancer detection assays intended for wide and cost-effective distribution and adoption.
The approach is an autologous, cell-based treatment that activates the full array of patient-specific antigens, resulting in both an innate and adaptive immune response. The company`s lead program is in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), an extremely aggressive form of brain cancer with a significant unmet need.
